Rhenish Primary School is the TOP ACHIEVER in Mathematics in the Western Cape

At a gala function on Wednesday 22 May 2008, Minister Cameron Dugmore, the MEC for Education presented Rhenish Primary School with an award for achieving the best results in Mathematics in the Western Cape!

In October and November 2007, the WCED assessed the literacy and numeracy skills of 71 874 grade 6 learners from 1 034 schools in the province. In 2002, 2004 and 2006 the grade 3 learners were evaluated. In 2003, 2005 and 2007 the grade 6 learners were evaluated.

The average pass rate over the three years, for the various grade 6 groups, were added to the average percentage achieved for that period. Rhenish Primary School was placed first in the Western Cape with an overall average percentage of 85,8%.

2007 Grade 6 Results:

In 2007 the Western Cape Education Department commissioned research into the literacy and numeracy levels of all grade 6 learners in the Western Cape. This research was undertaken to assist the WCED in planning its monitoring and support of schools.

Rhenish Primary School once again maintained its very high academic standards, by achieving a 86,1% pass rate for Literacy and 88,6% for Numeracy.
